'Peonies. First Impression', pastel study

This is a quick life study of peonies from my garden. I usually avoid cutting flowers from my garden, preferring to enjoy them in bloom where they grow. However, this time the peonies were suffering after heavy rain, so I decided to cut them and paint their ‘messy’ beauty at home.

This study was painted in June 2026.

Peonies are my favourite flowers, and I have painted them in different mediums and variations throughout the years.
