About

Lucy – Liudmila Silina – is a Solihull based artist, working in soft pastels and oil.

She is a member of Stratford art society from 2019, exhibits regularly in Warwickshire and Worcestershire as well as taking part in the different open calls in the UK and exhibitions in Cambridge and Wales. Lucy was one of the finalists of the Broadway art Competition in 2023 and has recently been longlisted for the artist of the year award 2026 by Visual Artist association.

Lucy’s favourite subject to paint is mostly Nature in any form- serene landscapes, moody stormy skies, interesting trees or relaxing seascapes, but also flowers! Tiny wildflowers or garden roses – all these find the way to her heart and she wants to keep the momentary beauty on the canvas or paper to share this beauty and her emotions with the others. Most of the time Lucy paints from life – going to plein-airs or just setting up a still life at home or in the garden. She also takes part in the Strada easel challenge (painting every day from life for 30 days) and the Great Broadway Paint-Off.

She likes pastels and oils for their messiness (you can mix both of the mediums with the fingertips and it allows more connection with the artwork) and forgiveness (you can change the painting at nearly any point of the process and sometimes the painting itself leads you to the desired finish).
